The Yin Yang symbol (Taoist) shows the idealized combination of, and harmony between, the two primal forces in the universe.
So much of human belief (of any faith) strives to meet this state of equilibrium and it struck me that today we needed
this balance more than ever.
And then I wondered, how could you tell if a panda was more "yin" than "yang" on a given day...? :o)
Tacita was the Roman goddess who guarded against gossip and bearing false witness. Her name would be sworn by during testimony. Romans would place their hand on their testes (where we get the word "testimony") and swear by Tacita (or another guardian deity) to
be truthful. You may have heard of two people having a "tacit agreement" about something.
I kind of wish today's leaders would remember Tacita more often.
I think Jesus would be outraged to see what is being done in His name by a vocal minority of Christians.
It's become rather fashionable to bash Christianity because of current affairs and it saddens me because I know many Christians who try very hard
to practice the love Jesus portrayed. I wanted to thank them for their efforts.
It happened 70 years ago to the Jews, and sadly, it's still happening (Palestine, Rwanda, Darfur, you name it). Maybe we should remember that the "Never Again" requires action. Amnesty International is just one place
that can help you take that action.

I think it's rather evident that we can't keep harming Gaia without her getting tired of it all. We've forgotten about the "harm none, do what ye will" part of the equation as well as the "what you do to someone/thing, will
come back to you threefold."
The Marian Seal ("Under Her Protection")
Consisting of the intertwined letters A and M, this symbol is called Auspice Maria and is believed to be a monogram for Mary. Auspice Maria is Latin for "Under the protection of Mary" and was commonly found in Catholic religious art, on churches, and inscribed on jewelry,
particulary during the Middle Ages.
This was my first attempt at translating something into Latin, so please let me know if I didn't get it right.

After 911, and now during the war in Iraq, I was, and continue to be, amazed that some Westerners still believe that the Islamic extremists represent the core faithful.
And then I wonder if it is any different for a person in the Middle East who looks at Americans and sees Christian extremists claiming to be representative of their faith.
I took the calligraphic name Allah (because the Islamic faith forbids pictures made of living things, which then led to calligraphic "pictures" of divine names and concepts) and
the Christian cross and put them together. It's easy to see the cross, but harder to see Allah...which is unfortunately part of the problem, IMHO ;o)
AUM or OM or Omkar (Sanskrit)
This is the sound that created the earth and it represents "unfolding" or "expansion." When you say it, the sound starts in your lungs and ends on your lips.
There are actually 4 different parts to the symbol that represent the 4 states of human awareness. The first state is ordinary waking or material (the first stroke--looks like the top of a 3).
The second is deep sleep (bottom of the 3). The third is dream state (right behind the 3). And the fourth (two strokes on top) is the absolute conscience or awakened state.
Agwe and Huracan are Vodou and Mayan spirits of water, the ocean, and seas. You'll note where we get the English word "hurricane."
While watching the news footage on the mess after Hurricane Katrina, I often thought of these deities (and others) and wondered if they were trying to get our attention.
