Welcome!
We're glad you're here!

Hi! Fishin' Vroom! Does this answer the question?

Of all the dates in history, which do  YOU  think are the most significant?

Would the dates be of  personal  or  global  significance?

Would they have happened only during  your lifetime  or during  any time period?

Would they be  holidays  or other annual festivals?

Browse the Bear's calendar for ideas!

An obvious commercial!

Now, here's the challenge.  Can you choose just 5 of those dates?  And can you explain why you chose them?  Need an example?  See below!

A quick note about date notations: BCE/CE = "Before Common Era" and "Common Era."  It's just another way to say "BC" or "AD"--and they're the notations I usually employ.  Have an opinion?  Consider joining the conversation!

One of the Bear's significant dates would be November 22, 1963--the day President Kennedy was assassinated.   It happened also to have been my 2nd birthday.  Of course, I don't remember the assassination, but I do remember my mother's reaction when she heard the announcement.  I was sitting on the living room floor playing with the Playskool mailbox my Nanny and Apo (grandparents) had sent to me for my birthday.  My mother was in the kitchen making my birthday cake (I did know what cake was!) while her soap opera was on the television.   I remember her coming out of the kitchen and staring at the TV.  I knew something big had just happened.

Do you have your 5?  Add your list to the conversation!

You don't have to put them in ranking order.  Or maybe you are just curious as to what other people think are important dates.  You can see the Bear's full list here too!  Oh, and don't worry--by posting you don't get added to some sort of mailing list (that's down below in the official sign-up box)!

Did the Bear miss an important date?  Be a contributor to the Bear's Calendar!  Your addition(s) would add to the calendar's character.  Maybe you'd just like to get updates to the calendar?

Aw, there's no "Year of the Bear"!

Oh, well, it's still fun to discover what sign of the Chinese zodiac this bear was born under!   The zodiac is based on a twelve year cycle and each year is represented by an animal.  Find your birth year and you determine your sign.   A good place to visit to learn about what kind of characteristics and attributes each animal can influence is   here.   But, make sure you come back because there is much more to see here!
